Prizes get awarded in the Agriculture Rises with the Youngsters Project Contest

The winners of the project contest titled "Agriculture Rises with the Youngsters" that was organized by İzmir Commodity Exchange (ICE) specifically for its 125th anniversary of establishment got their awards in the ceremony held in the New Assembly Hall of the ICE. Following the ceremony, the exhibition, in which 10 projects deemed worthy of showcase were displayed, was opened.

Throwing the opening speech of the award ceremony in which Mr. Ahmet Güldal, Provincial Director of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock in İzmir, was hosted, Işınsu Kestelli, chairperson of the Board of Directors of the ICE, thanked everyone that worked on the project, in particular the jurists that spared their time for this project, and all young participants who took part in the contest. Mrs. Kestelli also congratulated the winners and wished them all the best in the life ahead of them.

Mr. Güldal stressed in the first place that he very much liked the slogan of the Agriculture Rises with the Youngsters Project Contest and added, "This event organized by İzmir Commodity Exchange for its 125th anniversary contributes dearly to a current issue. The theme of İzmir Agricultural Fair will also be 'the youth' this year. We spent a lot of effort to find a striking slogan, but I like yours in all honesty".

Under the project contest organized by the ICE in order to develop new modern agricultural practices and strengthen the ties between the youngsters and the agriculture to ensure sustainability in agriculture and improve the competitiveness, and embolden the youngsters to come up with innovative projects that will ensure the integration of agriculture with different fields of work, applications of projects on Plant and Animal Production, Agricultural Marketing and Branding, Information and Technology in Agriculture were accepted.

From among the participants of the project competition, 37 projects that succeeded in passing the preliminary qualified for the final application. In the final application phase, the evaluation process was carried out in two stages. Following the first stage of the evaluation of projects, which identified the 10 most successful projects, the first three were determined.

As a result of the two-stage jury evaluation, Arzu Mert became the winner with her project named "Prototype Mass Production of the Predator Bug 'Orius Laevigatus' in Control of Agricultural Pests" while Tayfur Ünal ranked second with his "E-TAR" project, and Özge Elif Ceylan got the third place with her project titled "Türkiye Grows with Agriculture".
