İzmir competes on Instagram for the Exchange Palace
The #izmirborsasarayi Instagram photo contest organized by İzmir Commodity Exchange (ICE), which was established in 1891 and celebrates its 125th year of establishment this year, in order to familiarize the people of İzmir with the building the ICE has been using for 88 years came to an end. In the contest held between 30 March and 31 May 2016, the competitors consisting of amateur and professional photographers took interior and exterior photos of the Exchange Palace.
The jury comprising Asst.Prof. Gökhan Birinci, head of the Department of Photography of 9 Eylül University Faculty of Fine Arts; Asst.Prof. Özlem Aşman Alikılıç, an academic member of Public Relations and Advertising Department of Yaşar University; Misket Dikmen, president of İzmir Journalists Association; Kadir Kemaloğlu, Aegean Representative of Turkish Photojournalists Association (TFMD); Ercan Korkmaz, deputy chairperson of Board of Directors of the ICE; the ICE Board members Dr. Tayfur Akın and İlhan Zincircioğlu came together at 17:00 on Tuesday, 21 June 2016.
As a result of the evaluation made by the jury members over 178 photos, Hüseyin Salış ranked first while İrfan Açık and Sercan Özipekçi took the second and third place, respectively. The photos taken by Hakan Kuyumcu and Hacı Emre Polat were awarded the İzmir Commodity Exchange 125th Year Special Award upon the proposal of the jurors.
Thanking the participants that took interest in the contest, Işınsu Kestelli, chairperson of the Board of Directors of the ICE, celebrated the winning contestants. Kestelli said, "We held this contest to increase awareness of the 88-year-old Exchange Palace that is one of the unique buildings of our city this year when we celebrate our 125th year of establishment. We set our target group using the Instagram platform in these days when the social media is popularly used. Our advertisement for the contest reached 318.208 users through social media advertising. The total number of views of the page (www.itb.org.tr/instaborsayarisma) that included the contest specification and the interior photo shoot appointment request form on our website was 8.974. We are delighted to bring together the people of İzmir with the Exchange Palace".
In the contest in which the first, second and third places were awarded with 3000, 2000 and 1000 TRY, respectively, and the 125th Year Special Award worth of 500 TRY was set by the jurors during evaluations, the winners are as follows:
