Problems Of Slaughterhouse And Market Experienced In Izmir
İzmir Provincial Directorate of Agriculture , EBSO, İzmir Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Butchers, Beef and Lamb Producers Association and private sector representatives hosted by İzmir Commodity Exchange to discuss slaughterhouse and market problems which occured after Buca Integrated Meat Plant closure.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Accountant Member of Board of Izmir Commodity Exchange Bülent Arman and Vice President of the Assembly Ömer Gökhan Tuncer. Participant reached a consensus on the need to urgently reach a solution for the animal sector and a new Integrated Meat Plant establishment for İzmir.
In the meeting this was also stated that tradesman of İzmir had their animals cut in surrounding cities not in İzmir. Hence, it creates problems in the transport of meat and large amounts of meat enter to Izmir from other cities. Sector representatives say they need a control mechanism on the subject, they suggested a study on the establishment of a livestock exchange in Izmir, after the resolution of existing problems.
