BORSAV is Officially Launched
Yet another first from Izmir Commodity Exchange, Türkiye's first Commodity Exchange:
Izmir Commodity Exchange Education, Culture and Social Integration Foundation (BORSAV), the first commodity exchange foundation among the commodity exchanges in our country, has been officially launched.
Ms. Işınsu Kestelli, Chairperson of Izmir Commodity Exchange and also the first Chairperson of the Board of Directors of BORSAV, said: "We believe that our foundation, that is a first among the Commodity Exchanges and of which activities were introduced at the first Board of Trustees Meeting, will inspire the commodity exchanges in other provinces with its future operations and we would like to thank all our members who enabled us to achieve this success."
Izmir Commodity Exchange Education, Culture and Social Integration Foundation (BORSAV) has been officially launched. The first Board of Trustees meeting of the Foundation, of which incorporation was published in the Official Gazette dated April 19, 2022 and where the Board of Trustees comprises of the legal entity of the Commodity Exchange and Commodity Exchange Assembly Members, was held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
After the Council consisting of the Chairperson and members of the Board of Trustees was formed at the meeting, the Board of Directors and Supervisory Boards were elected to execute the Foundation's operations during their terms of office.
As a result of the election made by the votes of the Izmir Commodity Exchange Assembly members, Mr. Barış Kocagöz, President of the Izmir Commodity Exchange Assembly, was elected as the President of the Council, Mr. Güngör Şarman, the Vice President of the Assembly, was elected as the Vice-Chairman of the Council, Mr. Gürkan Gürel, the Secterary member of the Commodity Exchange Assembly and Mr. Tolga Uğurel, Member of the Assembly, were elected as Secretary members. As Permanent Board of Directors of the Foundation, Ms. Işınsu Kestelli, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, was elected as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Foundation as well and the Board Members consisted of Mr. Ercan Korkmaz and Mr. Bülent Arman, Vice Chairmen of Izmir Commodity Exchange and Mr. İlhan Zincircioğlu, Board Member, and Mr. Barış Kocagöz, President of the Assembly. Permanent members of the Supervisory Board Members are Ms. Sonnur Kırmızıoğlu, Mr. Bülent Uçak and Mr. Umut Okan, who are Board Members of Izmir Commodity Exchange.
Addressing the members after the election at the first Board of Trustees meeting of the Foundation, Ms. Işınsu Kestelli, the Chairperson of Izmir Commodity Exchange and BORSAV, said, "We are gathered here today with great pride of achieving a first as Izmir Commodity Exchange. We have completed the incorporation process of Izmir Commodity Exchange Education, Culture and Social Integration Foundation (BORSAV), for which we have been working meticulously for quite some time. The incorporation of our foundation was published in the Official Gazette dated April 19, 2022, and BORSAV was officially launched as the first commodity exchange foundation among the commodity exchanges in our country. All members of our Assembly will also serve as the Board of Trustees of our foundation. We also formed our Board of Directors and Supervisory Board. I wholeheartedly congratulate all our elected friends."
Noting that the primary purpose of the foundation is to work for the development of Izmir Commodity Exchange members and society in agriculture and related sectors, especially with member training, consumer training, vocational training, production and technology training related to agriculture, gastronomy training, Ms. Işınsu Kestelli said, "Our long-term target is to spearhead the establishment of an agricultural university. BORSAV, Izmir Agricultural Technology Center, Aegean Gastronomy Project and our previously established affiliate companies will also facilitate the integrated training activities of our Commodity Exchange under a single roof. The sphere of activity of BORSAV will also include carrying out activities to ensure environmental, economic and social sustainability in agriculture, branding our agricultural products, and increasing their economic value. Not only will we have the opportunity to earn income through foundation activities, but it will also be easier for us to transfer resources to various projects and studies in our region and country. I trust that our foundation, which is a first among the Commodity Exchanges, will provide valuable services to our members, province and country with its future operations and I would like to express my thanks to our esteemed members who enabled us to achieve this success."
Mr. Barış Kocagöz, President of Assembly at Izmir Commodity Exchange and Council Board of BORSAV, said, "May BORSAV, whose initial steps were taken with the recommendation of our Chairperson and Board of Directors, and which we officially launched with extreme happiness as the Commodity Exchange of the Firsts, be beneficial to the whole Commodity Exchange Community. The Foundation will serve, in general, in the educational activities and projects of our commodity exchange. I wish it would be beneficial to our commodity exchange and recipient of services."
What are the objectives of BORSAV?
At Izmir Commodity Exchange, the objective is to contribute to the development of agriculture and related sectors, especially based on training activities (member training, consumer training, vocational training, gastronomy training, agriculture-related production/technology, etc.) through BORSAV, which is the first commodity exchange foundation among the commodity exchanges in our country. The Foundation will also focus on carrying out activities to ensure environmental, economic and social sustainability in agriculture, branding of agricultural products, and performing other activities to increase their economic value.
