The Sixth “Empowered Youth For Agriculture” Contest

Izmir Commodity Exchange (ICE) organizes the "Empowered Youth For Agriculture" idea contest for the sixth time this year to support young people who want to work in agriculture. The contest aims to develop contemporary agricultural practices to increase sustainability and competitiveness in agriculture, strengthen the relationship of young people with the agricultural sector, and encourage young people to create ideas that will develop innovations in agriculture and integrate agriculture with different fields.

Applications for the contest will be accepted until 29 November 2021 under five different titles as "Smart Agriculture", "Environmentally Friendly Agriculture", "Agricultural Marketing, Branding and Communication", "Rural Development", and "Plant and Animal Production".

Participants will be able to apply by filling out the contest specifications form available on www.itb.org.tr/duyurular and forwarding it to ICE via e-mail (arge@itb.org.tr).

Işınsu Kestelli, the Chairperson of Izmir Commodity Exchange, drew attention to the vital role of agriculture for sustainable and inclusive growth and said, “Keeping young people in the agriculture and livestock sector is an important issue that we need to address. As Izmir Commodity Exchange, which has served Izmir and the Turkish economy for 128 years, we are an institution that has adopted the principle of working in the light of universal values in all areas we operate. We believe that success is not the result of coincidence but the outcome of consistent efforts. Hence, we aim to reveal creative ideas by supporting young people who want to create different projects in agriculture with the "Empowered Youth For Agriculture" idea contest which we will organize for the sixth time this year. As Izmir Commodity Exchange, with the understanding of "From Tradition to the Future", we always support the youngsters on this path.”

Following the completion of applications, as a result of the evaluations to be made by the jury, which will consist of members of the Exchange, academics, and representatives of other official institutions, the first project in each category will be awarded TRY 7,500. In addition, the honorable mention award of TRY 2,500 will be given to 2 participants, and the exhibition awards of TRY 500 will be given to 25 participants regardless of category.

The results will be announced to the public via the press and on the Izmir Commodity Exchange's website at www.itb.org.tr. And the awards will be presented to the beneficiaries at a ceremony to be held on the date determined by Izmir Commodity Exchange.
