ICE announces the winners of the painting contest
İzmir Commodity Exchange (ICE) announced the winners of the painting contest that was organized to help children better comprehend the agriculture, nature and the relationship between humans and the soil, and observe the agricultural production processes more closely under the "Soil and the Children" programme developed by the ICE in cooperation with the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Provincial Directorate of National Education and the Faculty of Education of Ege University in order to explain and show the value of soil to children and raise more healthy and conscious generations.
Stating that they were very pleased with the heavy attention paid to the painting contest, which was organized under the project for the first time this year, the ICE chairperson Işınsu Kestelli said, "The high participation to the painting contest that we held under our 'Soil and the Children' programme, which we launched to explain our children the value of agriculture and soil and inculcate them with interest for agriculture, gives us hope about the interest and awareness of agriculture of the future generations. With the similar activities we will organize under the project, we want to instil a philosophy of life in touch with agriculture into our children, who live away from the soil, fields and gardens, and help them love the green, soil and fields."
For the contest that was organized by the ICE in collaboration with the Provincial Directorate of National Education for all first, second, third and fourth grade students in public and private primary schools in İzmir, a total of 811 pictures were sent by the first, second, third and fourth graders.
The winners were determined by the jury from among the works that comply with the contest specification and a total of 60 pictures were entitled to be exhibited.
The winning works and those entitled to be exhibited will be soon displayed at the exhibition to be held in İzmir Commodity Exchange, and the winners will be awarded with tablets, mini tablets, photograph machines and mp4 players.
