Establishment of TARKEM

TARKEM (Historical Kemeraltı Construction Investment Trade Inc.) was established on November 19, 2012, with the aim of revitalizing İzmir's Historical City Center economically, socially and culturally.

As one of the pioneering examples of the public-private partnership model in Türkiye, TARKEM aims to combine the preservation of historical and cultural heritage with a sustainable development approach.

Shareholding Structure

TARKEM's shareholding structure consists of 40% public institutions, 10% chambers and commodity exchanges, and 50% private sector representatives.

İzmir Commodity Exchange is also among the shareholders of TARKEM.

Fields of Activity

TARKEM carries out real estate development, restoration, cultural heritage conservation, investment and organization projects within the urban regeneration area of Kemeraltı and its surroundings.

The company supports the preservation and adaptive reuse of historical buildings, as well as the social, cultural and economic revitalization of the area.

Contribution to the Historical City Center

TARKEM aims to contribute to transforming Kemeraltı and its surroundings into an attractive destination once again.

Through its innovative and participatory approach, it develops sustainable projects that preserve the historical urban fabric while supporting economic and social vitality.
