Women entrepreneurs talk of the sustainability of their businesses

Women entrepreneurs talk of the sustainability of their businesses in the ICE

The tenth of the seminars organized throughout the country under the "Program for Finance and Consultancy Support for Women's Enterprises" financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of the Republic of Türkiye and Turkish Labour Agency was held in İzmir on 5 December 2016. The seminar on "The key to growing your business: Communication Art in Leadership" was held with the support of TOBB İzmir Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Board coordinated by İzmir Commodity Exchange (ICE) in the New Assembly Hall of the ICE.

Dr. Pınar Nacak, who moderated the meeting as the deputy secretary general of the ICE, said, "We are together here under a very important project for the development of women entrepreneurship and women's participation in business life in Türkiye. In our country, the ratio of men entrepreneurs is 90% while women entrepreneurs constitute only 10 percent. Even merely this figure reflects the importance of this meeting. We strive for women to take active part in the working life. We can thus increase both social and economic gains. Once the women take a more active role in working life, the path before the individual and social development will be cleared. More qualified generations will grow up."

Having stated that ensuring the sustainability and improving the successes of the businesses run by women entrepreneurs were as crucial as increasing the number of women enterprises, Aysel Öztezel, president of the Executive Committee of TOBB İzmir Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Board, said, "Women are more innovative, more sensitive and more prone to team work. They are fonder of quality and can easily become more competitive. It is very important that as the associations, institutions, committees and organizations devoted to entrepreneurship, we have to stand by these enterprises and help them feel our support. I believe with all my soul that the women-run enterprises in Türkiye will develop rapidly with the right support to be provided".

The seminar programme organized in different parts of Türkiye aims mainly to inform women of the consultancy and finance supports provided to improve financial and managerial competencies as well as social skills of women entrepreneurs. The programme also intends to share with the participants some hints on communication management and leadership while teaching some critical methods that will expand the domain of influence in communication.
