In a letter received from the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), a cover letter from the Ministry of Trade is shared, stating that Turkish exporters will be able to begin creating accounts in the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) Registry as of December 2026.
On July 16, 2026, the European Commission's Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD) held a webinar entitled "Becoming a CBAM Verifier: Everything You Need to Know About Accreditation and Verification," addressing the accreditation of verifiers and the verification of embedded emissions under the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). On July 31, 2026, the Commission made the webinar recording, updates on the status of accreditation bodies, and other important information on the subject publicly available.
The webinar covered the accreditation process for CBAM verifiers, the key stages of verification activities, the assessment of monitoring plans, misstatements and data gaps, materiality thresholds, risk assessments, installation visits, and the differences between CBAM verification and other emissions verification systems. Information was also provided on recent amendments to the CBAM calculation methodology, particularly regarding functional units, multi-functional production processes, the calculation of embedded emissions in precursor goods, and system boundaries for iron, steel, and aluminium products.
Furthermore, it was announced that verifiers wishing to carry out verification activities under CBAM would be able to create an "EU Login" account starting September 1, 2026, access the CBAM Registry, and submit a registration application to the relevant national competent authority. Through the CBAM Registry, verifiers will be able to collaborate securely with producers established in third countries and share their verification reports via the system.
The webinar also indicated that third-country operators (exporters) would be able to begin creating accounts in the CBAM Registry as of December 2026.
