ICE concludes a protocol with İŞKUR on providing services

The signing ceremony of the protocol on providing İŞKUR (Turkish Labour Agency) services in İzmir Commodity Exchange (ICE) prepared to increase the employment opportunities in İzmir by establishing an efficient cooperation between İŞKUR and the ICE was held at the Historical Assembly Hall of the ICE at 11:00 on Tuesday, 7 March 2017. Deputy Governor of İzmir Mr. Ahmet Ali Barış, Provincial Deputy Directors of İŞKUR Mr. Zafer Şener and Ms. Nesrin Makbule Dank, Director of KOSGEB İzmir South Service Centre Mr. Recep Özçevik, Deputy Chairperson of the ICE Mr. Ercan Korkmaz and the Treasurer Mr. Bülent Uçak were present at the ceremony.

Having spoken at the ceremony in which Mr. Zafer Şener and Mr. Ercan Korkmaz signed the protocol, Deputy Governor of İzmir Mr. Ahmet Ali Barış said, "I believe that this protocol will contribute dearly to İzmir, our region, employees and economy in general. This contribution and growth will spread to the whole country."

Deputy Director of İŞKUR Mr. Şener stated that service points had started to be established in chambers and commodity exchanges within the framework of the agreement reached between the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and the TOBB (Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye). Emphasizing that all İŞKUR services could be reached at these points, Mr. Şener said, "Citizens will be able to apply for employment and various courses while the employers will be able to open up requests for worker recruitment. So far, 49 service points have been opened in many places such as public institutions and organizations, universities and professional associations. Our citizens will be able to benefit from the services of İŞKUR without going to İŞKUR."

In his speech where he pointed out the importance of the protocol concluded to increase the employment opportunities in İzmir through establishing an effective cooperation between the ICE and İŞKUR that works with the experience of 70 years, Mr. Ercan Korkmaz spoke as follows:

"Unemployment grows all over the world as a humanity problem that increases social dissatisfaction and desire for migration. According to the ILO, the unemployment rate will rise from 5.7 to 5.8 percent in 2017. This means that the number of unemployed people in the world will increase by 3.4 million and reach 201 million. Türkiye is among the most suffering countries in this regard, with the unemployment rate reaching double-digits. The issues such as growing problem of the European Union, which is our biggest market, great security problems in neighbouring countries and the treacherous coup attempt and terrorism cause us to perform at a lower level than our potential. Alleviating this problem and even removing it if possible is the common goal of all of us. I would especially like to stress that unemployment among young people should be particularly eliminated. Because the x generation that currently works and the z generation that prepares to work in the near future will have serious troubles with current working conditions and working methods. Of course, public incentives are of great importance in resolving the unemployment problem. However, I believe that the key solution of unemployment problem in the new economic order is the formation of an entrepreneurial class and entrepreneurial culture."
