Göztepe SK supports ICE's Social Responsibility Project

Göztepe Sports Club supported the Public Communication Campaign on Combatting Substance Abuse that was initiated by İzmir Commodity Exchange (ICE), Yaşar University and İzmir Provincial Directorate of Security in 2015 with the approval of İzmir Provincial Drug Coordination Board.

The players and technical team of Göztepe Sports Club took the field to warm up with t-shirts and a banner that read "Be aware to be sure" for the game against Balıkesirspor in Doğanlar Stadium on Monday, 13 February 2017 within the scope of the ongoing campaign that aims to raise awareness of parents and forge public opinion about substance abuse, and to provide online interactive educational content about substance abuse for youngsters, parents and teachers/training managers. The public service announcements of the campaign that were prepared for both radio and television were also broadcast in the stadium before the game to share the core messages of the campaign with the supporters of both teams.

The game was followed by Cemil Özgür Öneği, deputy governor of İzmir; Hüseyin Aşkın, İzmir Provincial Director of Security; Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cemali Dinçer, rector of Yaşar University; Olgun Atila, mayor of Bornova Municipality; Işınsu Kestelli, chairperson of Board of Directors of the ICE and Mehmet Sepil, president of Göztepe SK.

The ICE chairperson Mrs. Kestelli said, "We have developed and finalized the campaign with the valuable work and contributions of the Directorate of Security and Yaşar University. As İzmir Commodity Exchange, we attach great importance to this awareness campaign. As far as I know, this is the first time a professional organization supports such a campaign. This is a source of pride for us. Our country has great dreams about the future. There is a need for well-educated, hardworking and, most importantly, healthy generations in order for our country to realize these great dreams. We, therefore, heartily support the mission to raise the awareness of the people of İzmir and our country in general about the substance abuse for a healthier, happier and more prosperous future."

Having stated that Göztepe's support for the campaign was very valuable for them, Işınsu Kestelli said "We believe that sports is an important element in creating a healthy life and environment for the youngsters and we would like to thank the managers and technical team of Göztepe Sports Club who did their part in helping us announce our campaign to the public and reach the youngsters".

Mehmet Sepil, president of the Göztepe SK, said "We are very happy to be involved in this project. As a supporter of the project, we will take part in the new organizations to be made in the coming days and do our best to raise the targeted awareness. I would like to thank İzmir Commodity Exchange, Provincial Directorate of Security and Yaşar University for initiating such a campaign".
